Gurun Rosy Boas

Saya bekerja secara eksklusif dengan Anerythristic Pioneertown Locality Rosy Boa yang merupakan salah satu lokalitas paling langka "morf" Rosy Boa di dunia. Hanya ada segelintir peternak yang menghasilkan makhluk unik ini sehingga membuat mereka sangat dihargai di antara mereka yang bekerja dengan mereka. Ular kecil yang benar-benar menakjubkan ini memiliki iris biru muda dan warna hampir lavender / abu-abu yang benar-benar spektakuler. Bagian paling menarik tentang keindahan kecil ini adalah mutasi genetik (alias morf) pertama kali muncul di penangkaran! Sejarah Anerythristic Pioneertown Morph
Anerythristic Pioneertown Rosy atau disingkat "Anery Pietown" istimewa karena dua alasan. Pertama, fenotipe Anery berasal dari spesimen penangkaran daripada ditemukan / dikumpulkan di alam liar. Kedua, itu adalah garis murni lokalitas yang juga merupakan "morf" genetik resesif sederhana.
Pada tahun 1993 Ralph Crouch menjual kepada Mitch Allen sepasang F1 dari neonate wild type (normal looking) Pioneertown, CA lokalitas Rosy Boas. Ralph Crouch berbagi bahwa dia secara pribadi mengumpulkan orang tua di Pioneertown, CA. Mitch Allen membiakkan mereka dan menghasilkan tiga anak F2 (3) pada tahun 1999. Dalam sampah itu ada seekor jantan yang tampak Anerythristic. Mitch Allen membesarkan orang tuanya selama dua tahun lagi dan tidak dapat menghasilkan lagi keturunan Anery sehingga orang tuanya dijual ke toko hewan peliharaan setempat.
Pada tahun 2004, Mitch Allen berhasil membuktikan gen itu sebagai resesif sederhana dengan mengawinkan Anery jantan ke saudara perempuannya. Sampah F3 tersebut memiliki dua (2) bayi Anery lagi di dalamnya sehingga secara resmi membuat ciri visual (Anery) ini "terbukti". Perhatian yang cermat dan disengaja telah diambil sejak saat itu untuk memastikan kombinasi lokalitas / sifat ini tetap murni.
Saat ini (2019) kesesuaian genetik untuk ekspresi fenotipe dengan gen Anerythristic atau Axanthic lainnya pada populasi penangkaran Rosy Boa belum dapat dikonfirmasi.

A Note from TC On "Morphs"
Over the past 30 years my perspective on "morphs" has taken all kinds of forms. For clarity sake I'm defining a "morph" here as a genetic trait that yields a phenotypic (visual) expression. Morphs are either multigene or single gene meaning they can be either a combination of traits such as albino and anerythristic or a single trait like striped or something. Morphs exist in many captive reptile species today.
In general I find myself drawn to the wildtype expression in animals aka the natural form seen in nature. I find that contemporary nature and wildlife are my very favorite animals to observe in the wild and also manage in captivity. I'm not a particular fan of the subculture within reptile keeping that seeks to play with animal genetics either through line breeding, crossing genetic traits, or even worse hybridizing species to get a new pretty creation. Yet, I will absolutely support the liberty for those who wish to do so. I will also own the fact that I do breed the anerythristic morph of Pioneertown Rosy Boas.
As for me personally, I see morphs as the sprinkles on top of the ice-cream sundae whereby the natural form is the ice-cream. It hurts to see most of the community so excited over a bowl full of sprinkles and no ice-cream at all. The growing trend that saddens me is that the wildtype is too often viewed as useless or worthless which is fundamentally untrue from my perspective. I have a passion for conservation, preservation, and appreciation for natural found beauty. Therefore, over the next decade I will be moving away from producing any morphs whatsoever including these beautiful boas.
